Global mold sourcing is the practice of having injection molds manufactured by overseas tooling shops — typically in Asia — at significantly lower cost than domestic production. When managed correctly, offshore tooling delivers the same quality as domestically built molds at a fraction of the price. When managed poorly, it is one of the most expensive mistakes a manufacturer can make.
